Public transports in France

The users of the French public transport system (train, subway, bus, tramway, RER) are going to be able to benefit from better information and a minimum guaranteed service in case of strike.

To answer the expectations of the European users, the French Minister of Transport signed an agreement with numerous actors of the public transport sector on July 4, 2006.

The travellers will be informed about the minimum service which will be actually insured in case of important traffic disturbances during a strike.

The users will be informed sufficiently in advance about services foreseen and assured:

  • Alert by media as soon as possible if an important disturbance is foreseen
  • 48 hours before a foreseen disturbance: broadcasting about the services which should work (routes, schedules …) in stations, ticket offices, by panels and public address system
  • Report on the Website, via SMS and E-mail for the subscribers
  • A vocal server updates the information

For more information, the users will be able to call a free phone number.

A transport plan aims to insure critical and important ways such as place of residence - work or place of residence - university in the morning and in the evening, as well as access to the establishments of health and to the schools.
