After having launched the “citizens Forum” in association with her
colleague in charge of energy, Andris Pielbags, the European
Commissioner for consumers Meglena Kuneva made in Slovenia, under the
respective presidency European Union, a fundamental speech about the
relation between the European consumers and their energy suppliers.
She particularly insisted on the necessity of preserving a real confident relationship between consumers and energy suppliers, a sine qua none condition for consumers to become active participants in the market, by enabling for example to freely change their supplies.
She called the big energy suppliers to participate to the forums and to see to it that the competition now established is not to the detriment of the consumers’ rights which on the contrary still need to be reinforced.
