Regulated prices

...for gas and electricity: you can go back

Before the opening of the French energy market, policies decided to shield consumers from violent price increases and unaffordable energy by regulated prices.

Since the liberalization of the market, regulated prices and market prices coexist. The consumer can choose between both. But as these tariffs are quite confusing, most consumers did not use these options. And those who did, might want to go back to the regulated tariff.

Initially impossible, a new law (adopted on 7th June 2010) allows now in France to go back to a regulated tariff after a period of six months.

This law intents to increase competition and to encourage consumers to consider switching of providers.
