The European Commission officially adopted in March 2009 two regulations in order to improve the energy efficiency of house and office lamps, street and industrial lighting products.
The measures will gradually phase out all incandescent light bulbs and inefficient halogens by 2012.
The aim is to reduce Europeans’ energy bills and consequently to reduce CO2 emissions.
