European international calls

... a little bit cheaper

Since August 2008, the new roaming ‘eurotariffs’ (when the mobile phone operator switches at the border) have dropped to 55 cent/min for incoming international calls and to 26 cent/min for international calls answered abroad.

However, the French consumer union UFC - que choisir and the European consumer’s organisation BEUC claim tariffs closer to national call fees. That’s why the European commission announced to present a new regulation proposal relating to mobile call roaming this fall. At the moment, the fees are up to each operator although four European countries (including France) already charge calls per second after the first minute. Unfortunately, fees are rounded up in the rest of the European Union.
